Many of you may know that I’ve been trying to complete most of the Texas Monthly 2009 List for the best burger in Texas. While I’ve had their #1, and about half of the others they have listed the one that sits in my heart was the #3 burger from the Alamo Springs Cafe, in none other than Alamo Springs TX just outside Fredericksburg.

So one Satuday afternoon we were bored so we jumped in the car and headed south from Dallas for a mini trip to simply knock this one off the list, and hopefully find some extra fun along way way at night. Well, getting to Alamo springs isn’t for the faint of heart as you traverse narrow and winding country roads. Some with asphalt, some with simply gravel. Coming up to the place, which is in the middle of no where by the way, you come to a quaint white building with a friendly cat roaming round.
Once inside you are seated and are feee to grab your own drinks, beer and all. They serve drinks on the honor system and just ask you keep the caps for proof. We place our order. Me with my traditional bacon and bleu cheese that I’ve found to be an easy style most places offer with an additional patty to make it a full 1lb+ between a house made wheat bun. My buddy ordered the burger that made the texas monthly list as a Cheeseburger with green chiles on a jalapeño cheese bun
